International activity and cooperation with IAKS

International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS) is the only organization of its kind recognized by the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee. IAKS with its headquarters in Cologne coordinates the work in the field of advanced sports technologies with leading design, construction and engineering companies, suppliers of sports equipment and gear and it has experts in these areas from more than 100 countries. RASF is the official representative of IAKS in Russia.

Every two years IAKS holds the Congress on the Design, Construction, Modernization and Management of Sports Facilities. The Congress is held concurrently with the most representative international sports facility fair FSB (International Trade Fair for Amenity Areas, Sports and Pool Facilities). The forum welcomes representatives of the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, the International Sports Federations, the National Olympic Committees, experts in the area of sports facilities and suppliers of sports and technology equipment. The Congress participants learn about the latest technologies, architectural solutions and innovations in sports facilities operation.

The results of IOC/IAKS AWARD and IPC/IAKS DISTINCTION international contests are presented at the Congress. The IOC/IAKS AWARD is the international contest held together with the International Olympic Committee, and IPC/IAKS DISTINCTION is the international contest for the sports facility that offers the best conditions for people with disabilities, it is held in conjunction with the International Paralympic Committee.

Since 1967 IAKS has been publishing the international magazine "SB" ("Sports Facilities and Swimming Pools") devoted to the development of sports facilities industry and sports architecture.

Currently RASF delegation regularly participates in the IAKS Congress and FSB, arranging discussions and negotiations between the Russian sports industry top-managers and IAKS Panel members on the issues of mutual interest.
